World Cup Legacy

Back to school

The 11th of July has passed. The 2010 FIFA World Cup is sadly over as is Wonkie’s brief holiday. The football tournament was successfully hosted for the first time on the African continent and it was done so with style. South Africa has left its mark on the world as being both willing and capable to host the largest of global events. The vuvuzela will quite likely leave its mark on English vocabulary the world over – they were even being blown in full force in Vancouver at the other end of the world while matches were broadcast on a closed-off downtown street there. For many abroad, this event has literally put South Africa on their mental map.

Wonkie hopes that the legacy of the World Cup will be a lasting one for South Africa. The unifying effect of sport was once again clearly demonstrated as it was during the Rugby World Cup tournament in 1995. People of all races enjoying games together – cheering, crying, blowing their plastic trumpets, singing hand-on-heart to national anthems, enjoying the roller-coaster of emotions as the match results unfolded. For those that witnessed any of it first-hand it will certainly be remembered in the once in a lifetime category of experience.

While the softer social benefits are clear, much of the harder economic benefits still needs to be realised. The tournament has cost the country dearly to the tune of an estimated R38 billion. The South African government insists that this is also roughly the value of the economic benefit so the country would break even. South Africa will also benefit from the upgraded transport infrastructure and hopefully not soon-to-be-useless world-class stadiums for years to come.

Interestingly enough, South Africa already optimistically placed its bid for the 2020 Olympics before the 2010 cost-benefit analysis is completed. The question on Wonkie’s mind is not one of capability, but one of sensibility. Hosting world sporting events has great (and hopefully lasting) social benefits but is this the best bang for buck for the majority of South Africans? Perhaps Paul the Octopus who accurately predicted the outcome of 8 out of 8 games all the way through to the final game result can help answer that question with his psychic powers. At this point Wonkie believes most South Africans can use their own psychic powers to easily predict whether any of the ministers in the presidency will actually deliver anything of value in the next year.

What will the value of the FIFA 2010 World Cup be to South Africa?

  1. Colin Murray says

Good for some while it lasted but now it is history, crime and corruption will resume once more with avengence. The country after spending a huge amount on everything to do with SWC will suffer for some time to come. There is still no housing, the poor remain poor, service delivery is still non-existant, nothing has changed for the better of every citizen.

  2. south africa’s people are united ,everything was perfect .we are behind it silithsayela ihlombe ma africa amahle .keep your standard up but the shona’s from zimbabwe must be back coz they don’t respect other people’s languages and cultures .4real they must be back

  3. I think there will be enormous longterm benefits.
Still, our biggest problemsin SA is government idiocy, blatant theft (as with soccer tickets etc etc etc) and education.
Maybe the world ,having seen SA quite thoroughly, via the media, will notice and be vocal about our absolutely disgusting management of monies by the ANC and all their cronies, however I think this is wishful thinking. In the Mercury every day we are inundated with continuing reports in the highest levels of governance and I believe absolutely the majority are outright thieves, and, proud of it. I hope they nail Malema…but….what will come of his dishonesty ? I suspect he has a reasonable chance of becomimg president. This will just perpetuate the current situation.

  4. It (SWC) was great, but I disagree with Thoko about our African friends, we need them to do the jobs the “poor” does not want to do. The poor as poor because they have chosen that path!

  5. Wobbelyone says

It has been bliss these last 5 weeks with not a word from “big mouth” Malema, who is responsible for zipping up his lip? Why do the media give him so much publicity, that is why he makes so many provocative statements. Why is the ANC so afraid of him?

  6. The world cup was not done for South Africans, but for Europeans. It just showed us that the problem in South Africa is not the lack of resources but the lack of the political will to address issues like poverty, education and so on. The goverment has been struggling to build people proper houses and have a huge backlod, but was able to build so many stadia in a very short time to please Fifa and the rest of the world.

  7. I am a well educated person with a Honor’s degree. I was senior project manager and business developer for years having business process and procedures skills and experience. Worked as General Manager having 230 employees. Cannot find a job for 18 months now and to add to that is looking around and see many baboons (all colours) getting huge salaries for doing nothing. What the hell must one feel? Someone please pay me to get rid of non performers (Zuma and cabinet and Malema and doing net f……)

  8. If for the fact it our Gorvenment that financed the stadia, then it must have the polical will to address issues like poverty education and housing

  9. I am responding to what Kenneth have just said, I do agree with him 100%. Our politicians are not there to please the South African but to please Europeans. Kenneth mentioned something about education and our government is pulling their feet to implement a proper education for our people which could help them to improve their talent. About the Fifa World Cup I am sure most of the South African (especially Small Business Enterprise) are in debt because they have never been taught correctly about this event, their perception was we are going to make a lot of money. As we are preparing to bid for the Olympic Games I hope the Organising Committe of SA will look at some of the point which victimise some fellow South Africans.

  10. Its amazing that the Government can deliver for president Sebb Blatter .It was like living in the real world again with visible policing , potholes fixed , roads resurfaced & llines painted , vagrants moved out , broken windows replaced in old buildings , taxis behaving like human beings & not thugs as usual , police catching criminals quickly & courts handling cases virtually on the spot …etc etc …
How long will this last & why can,t the government roll this out normally for its citizens that pay their wages & taxes !!!1

  11. The World Cup just highlights what we are capable of when we work to a plan with guidelines/time-frames with clear directives with no choice but to use the right people for the job. As an example, the stadiums had to be built to fifa requirements and timescale – only tier 1 construction companies/consortium could tender – there are only 3 in SA and they had to use international companies/experts to help build. There was no chance unqualified companies would EVER get a piece of it. Same with the workers – there were allowances for the inevitable strikes but there were contingencies to fly in thousands of Chinese and other construction workers to complete the job. This is only one example of the degree of competence and compliance that was required to fulfill the fifa requirements. Compare it to the huge problems that we have with our housing provision and school/hospital/clinic building programs to address backlogs/shortages. “Tenderpreneurs” are allowed to plunder state coffers while delivering sweet nothing while the ones who are meant to benefit from these programs are the ones who suffer. It will be very interesting to see whether anything changes in the status quo; I have my doubts but I’m holding thumbs nonetheless…

  12. Thoko – as a South African I would expect you to refrain from engaging / inciting xenophobia… How quickly the wheel turns… If you are prejudiced against another along lines of ethnicity then that is racism, plain and simple my friend. Look inward and I’m sure that you will not like all that you see…

  13. Patrick Onrusrivier says

The WC was definitely worth it. Our country could afford 3 World Cups, if fianancial mismanagement & corruption in government were to be curbed. The people managing our country are clueless.

  14. The political will, as wisdom describes it, has manifested itself with clarity. The dignitaries, political and otherwise, were well looked after, institutions saw to it that those that counted got their tickets and places at the admirable stadiums. They were seen on TV and other forms of media. They had a party!!! At whose expense? Who is going to sacrifice for the 38 billion rand? Not the have it alls. no sir!!

  15. It is obvious that there are many people with amazing organizational and managerial skills in this country. Unfortunately none of them are in government, therefore nothing is going to change until we vote this useless bunch of clowns out. I say Danny Jordaan for president!

  16. Whoa! That’s a lot of money that was spent! I hope for South Africa’s sake things don’t end up like it did for Japan post their joint World Cup stint! I guess that can only be avoided if there are enough crowds able to pay to attend matches at the new stadiums frequently enough to help pay off for and maintain them over time…

By the way Wonkie I didn’t know Aardvarks went oink! LOL! Although I checked it up online and I guess the sound must be a joke alluding to the swahili name for it being the equivalent of an earth pig? And it’s only found in Africa and some say when eaten it tastes like a pig…YUCK! But good choice of animal then…it being found in Africa only etc! I prefer animals to be kept alive instead of eaten so happy for all the publicity Paul got…for sure that was a great marketing idea by the aquarium in which he lives! 🙂 Funny PETA didn’t jump in on the bandwagon! It would be interesting to do the economics and see if the town where he lives in Germany doesn’t profit more from the World Cup than South Africa itself! LOL! Maybe even Dorset where he was hatched will become popular 🙂

But I guess there is no way of gauging the impact hosting a World Cup in a country will have up front…but I’m guessing as a foreigner to South Africa myself looking in it seems to have helped a lot with putting the country on the map…for sure it might at least therefore increase revenues in tourism for a little while by some extent…in Trinidad I notice the radio commentators kept complaining about having to see Zuma LOL! Fascinating but I don’t think the men on the radio found him a very pleasant sight…I didn’t follow many matches but I’m guessing he may have appeared in animal skins at some point and the sight had scared the commentators?!

For sure the world now knows about vuvuzelas…KFC was giving them away here as part of some stinking KFC chicken combo offer but on the other hand most people know them to be noisy…people here started complaining about their dogs being affected by the noise from them…poor pets! Just what Trinidad needed another noise maker amidst so many! LOL!

For sure Paul was my fav World Cup memory! And in his honour here is a link to a man who has several interesting pets…including an aardvark that makes tea! 🙂 http://webspace.webring.com/people/mt/teabag/georgePets.html

  17. Among all those who got accreditation to participate in these games are the first signs of showing the failure of this world cup due to frustrated faces.none of them are running to the banks with wads or dollars, euros or whatever because there was no business at all.even the gangsters we are told are car guards are bitter since their expectations did not materialise.so here i`m looking at prostitutes, transport, eatery, accomodation and scenery.

Why is our politically correct propagandistic media bring them on oard to say if they benefitted from the ganmes but chioose to run indepenxdent wild uninformative articles talking about invisible and intagible success.proof is in the pudding and these stories about billions being made or it being a resounding success but no proof.the visitors numbersdid not even reach half a million because most of them were bussed by their countries`s teams to suppot those teams.

  18. Does the ANC government deserve such good citizens? The WC was a great success despite the government and politicians.
Oh and Jimmy Mangyi wants to know how many AA candidates were responsible for the success of the WC. If you refuse to answer / give the wrong answer= same thing, you will be a racist, undermining transformation.

  19. Ol' Pliny says

It may be romantic to savour the glory of being the first country in Africa to host the
World Cup, and to have added a new word to Oxford English – The Vuvuzela.
However, mankind is prone to being guided by his love for fantasy, myths, legends,
resistance to change and entertainment. Sadly, these things are usually shared in
a spirit of compatriotism, and tend to override the priorities. (We feel obligated to go along with
the crowd to avoid being called the nerd or spoil sport)

I have and will always side with those who have suffered in life due to lack of education.
Due to an unfortunate upbringing, I was lucky to even have got to standard seven. (Grade nine)
Except for the last six years of my working life, all earlier years were spent in lowly employment,
doing shiftwork, often in miserable weather from between 9 and 12 hours daily. Although I gained
a wealth of information since my school days, after scouring hundreds of books on everythng from arts
to science, every higher employment I sought to obtain required higher education.

It is really a disgrace that South Africa, a country where almost half the population earn far less than
than the minimum wage, those who had the influence to rebel against the World Cup, encouraged
everyone from the rich down to the starving masses to revel in the glory of the World cup.
Evolution is supposed to be a climb from savage to sage. Seemingly, it’s the opposite. Imagine how
Abraham Lincoln and Gandhi would have re-acted on such a waste of expenditure.

“It’s a strange, strange world we live in, Master Jack. You taught me all I know and I’ll never look
back. It’s a very strange world and I thank you, Master Jack.”

I sing this whenever I realise that there must be someone. like my self, to handle all the crap jobs.

  20. i enjoy this world wow are to u who still pulling or resisting for working together VIVA RSA VIVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  21. the only people who gained was BLADDER and FIFA, and ministers friends and family
The Khoi so called colored people did not recieve any gain, not even a practice field in Athlone was used , after 2010 it is pay pay for the white elephants

  22. MONKATSO says

the WC was great, eveybody behave. Now the government (ANC) must change their books and rules. SA was one nation, they have done baeutiful things in short time why can’t they do the same. Build houses. better education and jobs care for the poor.

  23. you have said it all kenneth.

  24. Kenneth,
As much as I would like to agree that the cup was to satisfy Europeans,it cannot really be true if one justifies the intentions. One of the over riding reasons for spending the awesome amounts on all the infrastructure was to enjoy the continuing benefits of them. How this will happen, only God knows but coupled with the cup was the window we showed to the world and I think it was a good one, even though it was coupled with enormous lies and,of course the inevitable theft of monies/tickets for cronies and stressed government officials……
With the final realization that OBE education is a fools paradise,it might now become possible to start education getting back on track but,in SA,education has lost it’s credibility and I would not trust any qualification from any institution. All education is politics now, hoping to instill a higher sense of learning at the cost of quality.Exam results (ministers success in his pedestal/throne of education). The way I see it is that it is totally in the interests of the ANC,to keep the masses in ignorance and feed them dogma and rhetoric and pitifully little else and scare the populace into voting for them to ensure their(ANC’s) longevity. This is why SA is a joke as a democratic country. The ignorant rule by numbers alone.Look at the qualifications of ANY of the senior government officials, look at their dismal records AND,you should cry for this country, the thugs own it with no less strength, cunning or corruption than the Russian Mafia.

  25. yaah it is of great value if the financial gains are put to good use transparently. But the problem are the white elephants left grazing all over. They must bring everyone and do a proper research on how best these giants can be used and be of benefit to their community apolitically.

  26. Ol' Pliny says

Kenneth, although you echo the sentiments of many others on this topic,
it bothers me that you use your job description ‘pastor’.
Surely this is not much different from claiming it’s also God’s opinion.
This may perhaps acceptable if someone from the sporting world offers
an opinion under his appointment of say, manager of bafana, etc.
What in the world ties up the preaching profession, or even God for that matter with sports?

How silly it would be if we all quoted out Job descriptions, EG:
Dustman Ol Pliny “Blah, blah, blah…”.

  27. wHAT IS MIFFING ABOUT THE OUTCOME IT THE FACT THAT NO-ONE AMONG THE ACCREDITATED BUSINESSES HAS COME-OUT AND PRAISED THE CUP FOR BENEFITTING THEIR BUSIN ESSES AND INEED ITS THAT AIRPORTS,EATERIES,SCENERIES AND SHOPPING CENTRES WERE EMPTY AND THIS CAN BE CONFIRMED BY TOUR OPERATORS WHO SAW NO INREASED BUSINESS.I`M STILL TO SEE EVIDENCE OF THE NINETY THREE BILLION ZUMA SAID WE MADE…ALL THAT IS THERE IS THE LIE AND FRAUD THAT SOUTH AFRICA IS RULED UNDER .TO BUS PEOPL AT STADIUMS THAT DOESN`T AMOUNT TO SUSTAINED RELATIONS SO ITS A LIE TO TALK ABOUT UNITY BORNE BY THE CUP.

UNITY WOULD HAVE MEANT MANDELA,DEKLERK,ZUMA,MBEKI,BUTHLEZI,TONY LEON,ZILLE COMING TO THE GAMESXHOLDING HANDS AND CONFIRMING UNITY BUT TO TURN THIS INTO THE RULING PARTY`S INITIATIVE YOU CAN`T TALK ABOUT UNITY.TO ANNOUNCE PUBLICLY THAT THIS CUP IS FOR MANDELA YOU CAN`T TALK ABOUT UNITY!

  28. Democracy viva la anc style .For the goverment and families ;by the goverment and families ; and the rest go dig your own grave
This country has it all , but humpty dumpty will have a great fall
I believe this is not what Mandela planned , aparteid was bat in all things
but this lot is worse in everything; lets take them on with a vote God bless South Africa ,ken

  29. OL’ PLINNNY
I am not ashamed of my position as pastor , we spoke out and was part of the U.D.F struggle against the old regime , but is this what we get now from the A.N.C .the church cannot be silent if things are wrong , go read the bible
    LOVE YOU PASTOR KEN

  30. Ol' Pliny says

Ken :> “go read the bible LOVE YOU PASTOR KEN”
I did Ken, but could not find the word ‘pastor’ – Which translation are you using?
But. I did find Mathew 23:1-12 where Jesus told his disciples not to be called by any
titles, and broadly mentioned a few, IE: Rabbi (teacher) and Father, both of which
have many synonyms. He also said that those exalting themselves will be humbled.
Now, why copy all those priests who just love the attention when called Rabbi,
Father, Cardinal, etc…all the way up to Pope.

Then at Acts 20:28 the apostle Paul said: “Therefore, take heed to yourselves and to all the flock,
among which the holy spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he
purchased with his own blood.” (NKJV 1979)

A shepherd (or overseer) is a decriptive term and not a title.
On the other hand, the word ‘Pastor’ is a title.

Now compare a few of Jesus’ last words to his disciples at Matt 28:20,
“Go — make disciples —teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you.”
They were to be teachers – not known as such.
The word minister, on the other hand, is both a noun and a verb, and therfore acceptable.

In a secular sense (as opposed to religious) the is nothing wrong in having a title.
Jesus was a carpenter, Peter was a fisherman, and Paul was a tentmaker.
Using a title in a religous sense indicates self glory.
Now why would any one want to call you Pastor?
What’s wrong with them calling you Ken?
Is it not the same as saying to Paul, “Hi Tentmaker”

I’m just trying to help you old pal.
By the way, I have been reading the Bible for over sixty years.
    Love you lots,
    from Dustman Pliny.

  31. DustmaN Piny
you make marks in the bible but does it make a mark on you
MY COMMISIONAR OF OATHS MARRIAGE OFFICER BY OUR GOVERMENT REGESTER ME LIKE THAT ; GREEK; HEBREW TRANSLATIONS ; ITS A MINISTRY
YOU ARE MAKING IT A TITLE
MANAGER ; FORMAN . COACH ; REFEREE , LINES MAN ; UMPIRE , THE BIBLE CALLS PAUL , TENTMAKER , APOSTLE;AND TO DAY SOMEBODY IN PART TIME MINISTRY IS ALSO CALLED A TENTMAKER
YOU HAVE PROBLEM ; I DO NOT HAVE
CALL ME KEN NO PROBLEM STILL LOVE YOU
IT IS THE MASTER NOT THE PASTOR YOU MUST SERVE

  32. its as real shame that when this government had all the ingredients to show the world that the black man can be as competitive, competent and efficient in ruling a country they opted for this politically correct bullshit whit is nothing but a code a la gangs or mafia codes and now this country is a fuck-up.Only a military action will stabilise it!!!!I pray and hope that Holomisa will repeat his move which led to his installation in the former homelands before it is too late.

  33. The teachers did get something good from the WC= Laptops!

  34. THE WORLD CUP EVENT HELD IN SOUTH AFRICA IS NO DOUBT THE BEST OF ALL IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL, THOUGH, NOT A SOUTH AFRICAN BUT REALLY PROUD TO BE AN AFRICAN, THERE SHOULD NOT BE A MOMENT OF REGRET BUT ALL OF PRIDE & SHOULDERS BEING HELD HIGH FOR ALL THE AFRICAN PEOPLE.
I USE THIS MOMENT TO APPEAL TO SOUTH AFRICANS TO STOP THIS ACT TERMED XENOPHOBIA & EMBRASE THEIR AFRICAN BROTHERS, FOR THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT MOST AFRICANS FOUGHT AGAINST APARTHEID FOR SOUTH AFRICA DURING THEIR STRUGGLE. THE RIVER THAT FORGETS ITS SOURCE SHALL SURELY RUN DRY.

  35. First of all…there`s nothing called African not even the continent since there should have been a course of action attached.

The one`s perceived to be Africans despised the continent and all its people hence the flight! The World Cup was not given to South Africa or the continent but to Mandela and his party and it revolves around their and his agendas.

Xenophobia is a figment of the pigmentations and imaginations of the third force that is bent-on domineering, controling and ruling the continent under the feet of blacks. Its the one that has been manouvering in Zimbabwe and the beating Mugabe gave them chase them to South Africa. It is now here to ensure blacks don`t benefit from this government so as to pit them against it so that they must vote for an alternbative to which it can control like the Unitas,Renamos and MDC`s it controls.

This is why the world is not peeved-off by the xeno-word since if you say South Africans are xenophobic you imply institutionalised xenophobia where there`s a legislation slating darker-hue foreigners but there`s not only no such legislation but foreigners enjoy preference over locals.Home Affairs buildings are cleared to serve only foreigners, they get free illegal permits, protection, amenities, human rights etc.

Our people have lost limb, life and soul fighting white rulers in those countries that attained independence alongside foreigners and they have forgotten about all that.foreigners did not help us but gave us pieces of land to erect tents from the UNHCR.

Asylum was not given instantly because it was actually denied until mandela broke his banishment to go appeal and it was then that it was granted under very strict conditions.

  36. Tim, are you drunk? Are you trying to become a “rapper”? I’m trying to understand your last post but am failing dismally…. reading some of your previous posts doesn’t serve to enlighten me either! You seem very confused and angry – I think you need to seek professional help…

  37. Ol' Pliny says

Phred(y) Kreuger, you sure slashed him there. Initially Tim produced some good
posts, which stimulated me to compliment him and egg him on to continue along
similar lines; namely for the enlightement and pleasure of all.

Lately his posts, besides being difficult to read, jump from one subject to another, which leaves
one trying to guess the point he’s trying to make.

Another problem child is that ADE guy. Seems he is either racist or cannot dislodge the chip off
his shoulder. “REALLY PROUD TO BE AFRICAN” he shouts – loud as a flipping vuvuzela.

Have you ever heard anyone in Europe shout “Proud to be European? ” Blacks in Africa seem to
have an inferior complex in this respect. All I want to know is; “Proud of what?”
Europeans have always been the champions in research to the benefit of all nations, and have much
to be proud of, yet one never hears them shouting it out from the roof tops.

  38. Ol’ Pliny – it boils down to world view, cultural identity, cultural bias, colonialism, patriarchy, slavery, etc. etc. Actually there is sooo much to it but sooo much contentious stuff that it is not worth discussing. Ultimately I know many young, successful black people and deal with many youngsters with no hang-ups from the past. Most of these have had good educations and their parents have been good role models instilling good values, ethics and morals in them. Therefore, what is the solution – good stable family life, good education and instilling in our children that they are unique, special creations of our creator God and that their “value” is in that, not what the world would tell us (position, wealth, education level, etc. etc.).

  39. Ol' Pliny says

Phred, we had a fantastic maid from 1969 for 16 years. She had just left school, and my
wife taught her domestic science and religion. (She was most impressed with Solomon’s
judgment in the ‘mother of the baby’ case) She was honest and reliable, and that later
helped her find a good job in the catering business.

Yet, she was steeped in superstition and feared her ancestors. Even after ten years, she could never get
herself to touch a chameleon or brown water snake. Respectively, she believed they brought bad luck,
and are deadly poisonous. She stuck to this even when I proved to her by provoking a freshly caught water
snake to bite. They just will not bite. They have minute teeth for catching small fish and frogs.

We tried to explain, using Moses as an example, that the ancestors are as dead as the Dodo. God said to
him: “Go, return to Egypt, for all the men who sought your life are dead.” (Ex 4:19)
We also read from her Xhosa Bible, “For the living know they will die, but the dead know nothing…also their
love and their hatred, and their envy have now persished. Nevermore will they have a share in anything
done under the sun.” Now Moses of all people would have, like Jeremiah, tried to excuse himself from that
assignment, seeing he grew up observing Egyptian traditions and ceremonies for the afterlife.

If the ancestors are alive somewhere, surely they would be able to reveal lost secrets or where buried
treasure lies. Someone in these posts said that it pays the government to keep the masses ignorant.
That’s believeable. Why willl they not educate them in such matters. One does not need to be prophet
to foretell that ignorance among poorer blacks will remain for a few more hundred years or more.

  40. Blacks in Africa seem to
have an inferior complex in this respect. All I want to know is; “Proud of what?”

Point taken there-and there`s nothing further from the truth!I looked at the Hollywood blacks who have nothing to offer producers about themselves except gangsterism as the cause of the black man!Chinese have martial arts and indians have religion to be proud of…

Tim, are you drunk?Yes,Iam and I expect every sane and sober and intelligent prson to be due to the goings-on in this country!Observed from a distance you will admit that the role-players are no different due to their shenanigans and antics.

To discover the very thick plot against me as a black South African I became more drunk and decided that with theinitiators of this plot{cloureds, whites, foreigners and indians I will just throw bricks at them and not be reasonable with them at all since theirs is annihilation of the blacks of this country through murder, subjugation and usurping!

  41. Hi Tim
Our biggest problem in this country we want to make everybody black; let white be white .colored be colored , indian be indian , and then we can be a rainbow nation , we need each other
I am a Khoi and are proud of it , By the way the blacks acording history was never a native of the Cape , the first human remains found was a KHOI on Table mountain and that was 2000 years old,we are the oldest nation in the world ,and the first nation of South Africa and to day we have nothing, we have been cast out of the Cape , who was the first to supply vegt , water , meat to the setlers ,and Van Riebeeck
Lets forget the power struggle you are the goverment of the day , do a better job , not apartheid in reverse
There is room under the sun for every one

  42. Ol' Pliny says

PM, it would be nice if you would make changes to your post editor.
The one at CNET is positively the best I have seen on the Internet.

It really is difficult to post on line, as the allocated space differs from the final display,
which is much larger. At CNET, after typing in your message, you can select either
Preview or Submit. If necessary, you can return to edit the message again.
As in the case with Wonkie’s and most other editors, you can also select and delete all text.

Please consider this. Perhaps all those who capitalise their posts may see for themselves how difficult
these are to read. Others who post in anger may have a change of mind before upsetting others.

  43. Ken,I discern your concerns regarding the performance of these rulers which if one take a closer look at it one would very likely compare it to that of Trullij who ruled the Dominican Republic with an iron fist in the early nineties…!

I spent the eighties in the Cape Flats with the Carolus`s,Johhny Eyssls,Ashley`s etc and I know how dedicated coloureds were in the struggle for humanity, equality and justice and the fact that these atre still eluding us they have been completely demoralised in that instead of enjoyin the fruits of their struggle they hav gon to live in England which is tough as tick for the black man to live in due to white supremacism.

That of wh came here first is for the annals of history since time that we have is to fight for the country we would like to call it our home and be happy in-so aluta continua!!

Speak Your Mind
