EXCERPT of post:

Black empowerment in South Africa, despite legal efforts to support it, has been woeful. A handful of black elite – the so-called black diamonds have grabbed for themselves whilst the poor black masses have not been able to improve their lot. This cartoon and article is the first in a series about black economic empowerment and job creation.

EXCERPT of post:

Pravin Gordhan’s 2012 budget in South Africa played the balancing act nicely given current local and global economic circumstances. More effort needs to be made to increase the tax-base though and certainly more effort is needed to stamp out corruption and government squandering of public funds in order to achieve a sustainable solution for the country.

EXCERPT of post:

Pieter Mulder, leader of Freedom Front Plus in South Africa claims that blacks may not be entitled to make land claims based on the fact they were not there first in as much as 40% of the country. As expected, this sparked an uproar as an inaccurate depiction of history. The flaw in Pieter Mulder’s argument however, is much more fundamental.
